BikeInCanoe

BikeInCanoe

yesterday i tried something a little different with the white bike and my old canoe. the concept was to put the bike and the canoe in the car, drop off the canoe (at hudson mills), drive the car to down below delhi and leave it there, riding the bike back to hudson mills. it worked, basically, although i elected not to "shoot" the delhi rapids with the bike perched they way it was; i had not actually checked how the bike would fit into the canoe before hand (foolishly, i suppose), just assuming instead that it would. it did fit, but not how i imagined. tipping over would been uncool, to say the least. doing it in deeper water, like when those winds whipped up with that sudden downpour? that would have extremely bogus. anyway, everyone is high and dry and i am a little bit smarter. no wait, that's not quite true. i just know something i didn't know before. not any smarter, i'm afraid.

Projected Rack

Projected Rack

Netherlands, Rotterdam, bus terminal at the Zalmstraat (near the Spido sightseeing boat take-off and the Erasmusbrug).

It is amazing what nice things you can do with spots that are installed in the street. I was taking another picture (coming soon) and looked back to see my new Swedish-made bike projected against the bus stop divider wall.

I shall be using this bike to transport my photo gear around town during the summer festivals. The ladder that I used to take the Rotterdam Marathon shots fits just right on the large front rack of this Kronan Kargo.

BTW, this is another Autostich-project. I combined 6 photos this time to get this wide angle. The bike looks a bit stretched by the fish-eye effect. It is actually only 20 cm (8") longer than a regular bike.

Suunto Observer ST Wrist-Top Computer Watch with Altimeter, Barometer, and Compass (Stainless Steel)

Bring together style and functionality with the Suunto Observer wrist-top computer, an altimeter, barometer, and compass in one. This Observer model comes with a stainless-steel housing and stainless steel elastomer strap and is one-third smaller than earlier Suunto wrist-top computers, ideal for those wanting a more compact instrument. Waterproof to 100 feet, the Observer is designed for outdoor use with a rugged, shock-resistant body and backlit dial. Suunto has improved its altimeter to allow the Observer's logbook to display and record at the same time. The altimeter allows you to view the current altitude with a range up to 29,500 feet and a resolution of 10 feet. The Observer features 24 hours of logbook memory, and the improved logbook stores up to 40,000 feet of data. With the push of a button, you can measure ascent and descent rates between stages with altitude simultaneously. The barometer allows you to measure the temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, measure absolute pressure, and follow changes in barometric pressure and temperature. The Observer's compass shows directional bearing in degrees and cardinal or half-cardinal point. There is a north-south arrow, and a bearing tracking function displays locked bearing, actual bearing, and the difference between these declination adjustments. The compass's bubble level ensures a reading accuracy to within 2 to 3 degrees. Watch functions include displays for day, time, and date with three programmable alarms plus a stopwatch and countdown timer. The Observer comes with a replaceable battery, which lasts up to 18 months, and a one-year warranty.
